Since last October, the Trade Association of Deep-Sea Cod Operators in the Magallanes region, to which Globalpesca belongs, has become part of the National Fisheries Society (SONAPESCA), which brings together industrial fishing organizations from across Chile.
This trade federation promotes and drives Responsible and Sustainable Fishing through the collective efforts of all fishing regions. This aims to allow for the conservation of diverse marine resources, environmental protection, scientific and technological development, food security, human health, worker well-being, and the contribution of companies to the country’s economic growth.
This framework asserts that, given the new challenges facing the sector, its member associations must actively participate in decision-making processes to collectively address the sector’s significant challenges. This involves collaborating with sector authorities to restore fisheries and strengthen the new institutional framework.
